Thank the Lord. Finally a film that's stands up to the brilliant Paranormal Activity franchise. Don't believe the one star reviews. This is the real deal. Full of scary, unnerving moments, great acting and genuine jump out the seat moments. Give it a go. I loved it. Grave encounters 2 is coming out soon such was the success of this little gem.

I like the premise but the lead actor (character called Lance I think) didn't have a great range. Personally, I think horrors from a 1st person perspective should stay low budget and keep with the jumps and bumps theme (Blair Witch) or go all out with the full gore (House On Haunted Hill) but this one sort of falls in between where neither the bumps/jumps or special effects can carry it through the whole film. Good effort, let down by a poorly acted lead. 2 1/2 starts if i could.

One of my favourite horror movies ever. I love the cheesy lines as they're filming for the TV show they're recording. And the whole atmosphere of being trapped in an abandoned mental hospital with seemingly no escape. I just don't like the static they always get when confronting the spirits - gets a little annoying. Superb otherwise, and better than the sequel.
