About this movie

Lance Preston and the crew of "Grave Encounters", a ghost-hunting reality television show, are shooting an episode inside the abandoned Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital where unexplained phenomena has been reported for years. All in the name of good television, they voluntarily lock themselves inside the building for the night and begin a paranormal investigation capturing everything on camera. They quickly realize that the building is more than just haunted it is alive and it has no intention of ever letting them leave. They find themselves lost in a labyrinth maze of endless hallways and corridors, terrorized by the ghosts of the former patients. They soon begin to question their own sanity, slipping deeper and deeper into the depths of madness, ultimately discovering the truth behind the hospital's dark past and taping what turns out to be their final episode.

Waste of money. Poorly acted. The two effects I counted weren't original and look cheap. You want to throw away money like I did, go right ahead. Btw...the poster image is for Grave Encounters Two. I bought the bloody film on the back of the cover art without noticing. Haha. Makes me a lil dumb I guess but either Google or the film company misrepresentations is shifty and should be as illegal as false advertising. Won't be buying anything by these reprehensible duds again, THAT'S for sure.

"Grave Encounters" is a 2011 found-footage horror film starring Sean Rogerson, Merwin Mondesir, Ashleigh Gryzko and Mackenzie Gray. The plot is; a ghost hunting television crew lock themselves into a supposedly haunted former mental asylum when things get more than real. It is written by The Vicious Brothers but due to the found footage nature of the film it's too hard to tell how much dialogue is improvised. Direction is also hard to comment on due it's found-footage nature. The acting seems consistently decent throughout out and Sean Rogerson seems to give the better of the performances. The film is creepy and scary at times w/ some surprises that come out of nowhere. The films isn't entirely reliant on jump scares as much as it is it's creepy atmosphere. There is some truly creepy moments in this film that will truly give you some chills that'll stick w/ you for months. The backstory behind why it's haunted is a bit cliché but still quite creepy. I'd definitely recommend this film to anyone looking for a good found-footage horror film. Only problem is the limited times you have to watch this film as it's only a film that is only truly effective in the dark and at night.

Love this. This movie surprised me for sure. I really wasn't expecting it to be this good. I love how the ghost hunters are making fun of the entire situation until they realise that the asylum is actually haunted. This is one of my favourite found footage horror movies. It's amusing, creepy and provided the feeling of dread. The asylum is the perfect moody environment and this movie has some genuine scares and the pacing is brilliant. Starts of slow and builds up just when you least expect it..
