About this movie

Chris Rock visits beauty salons and hairstyling battles, scientific laboratories and Indian temples to explore the way hairstyles impact the activities, pocketbooks, sexual relationships, and self-esteem of the black community in this exposé of comic proportions that only he could pull off. A raucous adventure prompted by Rock's daughter approaching him and asking, "Daddy, how come I don't have good hair?", GOOD HAIR shows Chris Rock engaging in frank, funny conversations with hair-care professionals, beauty shop and barbershop patrons, and celebrities including Ice-T, Nia Long, Paul Mooney, Raven Symoné, Dr. Maya Angelou, Salt-N-Pepa, Eve and Reverend Al Sharpton - all while he struggles with the task of figuring out how to respond to his daughter's question.

I didn't know what to expect. I thought it was going to be about making fun of black women's hair and an attempt to lower the self esteem of black women. Instead this film gave interesting information about a billion dollar business that depends solely on the black race; however, this race makes financial sacrifices so these billionaire's can thrive. It makes me think how we need to be content with ourselves, but fashionable if we choose, but most of all start and support our own businesses. It's not boredom with seriousness. There's lots of humor intertwined with learning.

Gives us white girls a better understanding of ethnic diversity in a relaxed, not so politically correct, uptight, and care-free kinda way. You gotta love Chris Rock!
