About this movie

Academy Award(R) winners Nicolas Cage and sexy Angelina Jolie ride an unstoppable wave of speed and adrenaline in this hot, edgy action hit from high-octane producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Legendary car booster Randall "Memphis" Raines (Cage) thought he'd left the fast lane behind -- until he's forced out of retirement in a do-or-die effort to save his kid brother (Giovanni Ribisi) from the wrath of an evil mobster! But with speed to burn and attitude to spare, Memphis hastily re-assembles his old crew -- a rogues' gallery including Academy Award(R) winner Robert Duvall -- and floors it in a full-throttle race to pull of the ultimate car heist: 50 exotic beauties in 24 hours -- and the cops are already on to them! GONE IN 60 SECONDS is an action packed thrill ride that comes out fast and never slows down.

Has a 80s action film feel to it. Fast cars, questionable plot and talented actors portraying some poorly written characters. Bit despite this I enjoyed the film. The pacing is good and the plot is simple but moves the action forward. I call this a background movie where it's something to have one while doing something else. Nothing happens that if you miss it you lose the plot.

The scene that sums up the movie to me is where a cop tells Nic Cages character that he'll "be locked up until there aren't cars anymore". Completely stupid, which is also good film and perhaps it would have been better for the screenwriter and director to have been similarly locked up rather than subjecting audiences to this appalling dross.

My best description would be a Top Trumps movie - as in the card game when l was a kid. Undoubted entertainment (what else are movies meant to be?!) but wooden performances from some good supporting cast actors. I do wonder where Nic Cage would have been without his family connections... but this is probably the best outing he has to offer. Imagine you are a young teenager again and enjoy the ride... literally.
