About this movie

Three kindly old men, indistinguishable from the half-forgotten ranks of senior citizens you might pass on any city park bench in warm weather, decide to light up the dimming twilight of their lives with a last blaze of glory – by sticking up a Manhattan bank in broad daylight. A very distinguished, not to mention award-winning star trio – George Burns, Art Carney and Lee Strasberg – generates just the right charm, crust and comedy as the not-yet-over-the-hill desperados in this slyly funny and unexpectedly moving feature-film directorial debut of Martin Brest (Beverly Hills Cop, Scent of a Woman). For lump-in-your-throat laughter, Going in Style is an entertainment steal.

I love this movie it was so hilariously funny! George Burns was the strong one in the bunch, he has spunk and a lot of character in his life in the movie. His personality in real life was not far from it and this is probably one of the reason why he lived a long life in real life before he died. My stomach was in pure stitches while watching this movie one night! I recommend this to anyone who can appreciated a good wholesome laugh, it's good for the spirit and soul!

A quiet film. It convinces in the strength the characters show when old age leaves one with no more goals to aim for (no fortune, no 'success', no fame). Underneath the quiet is the fortitude these 3 show. But above all, George Burns character. He is not to be pushed around, even when surrounded by the police. And that George insists that the money go to Art Carney's son and his family, and not to reveal anything to the police, shows that his 'success' is help others.
