About this movie

The story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

This was an incredibly bad movie. Nothing in it makes sense, all the characters are terribly written and terribly acted(Despite most actors and actresses in this movie having proven themselves more than capable actors/actresses). There are points in this movie that are so dumb and contradictory of itself that you need a moment to process just how stupid the events are. For instance there's a point where a character is told they can not take off their protective gear because they will burn to death in seconds yet a minute later that very character is taking off their protective glove to put in a password to arm a nuke(Which is "1", yes, the password is "1"!!) and acts as if there's nothing wrong, this character then proceeds to take off their helmet and walk toward a monster as if nothing's wrong(Besides the fact they're about to be obliterated in less than a minute by a nuke they've just armed). This is a minute after being told they'll burn in seconds due to the heat and radiation. They also set this nuke to go off in a minute, why not longer? Who knows. It's just one of those things that makes no sense especially considering in the previous movie the nuke they had was manually set for HOURS before it would blow up. The whole movie is incredibly dumb and not in the "It's so dumb it's good and the movie is aware of how dumb it is." It's dumb in the sense that it's not aware of how stupid everything is, how little sense it makes and it tries to be serious in parts. The whole family/monark plot is just bad. It makes no sense what so ever. This is the logic of this movie: "These monsters killed my son, I don't want his death to be in vain so I'm going to wake up all of these 'titans', have them kill billions of people because humans are parasites destroying the planet and that's good for the planet?" The motivation is incredibly bad. The one thing you want from a Godzilla movie is monster on monster fighting action. There's not much of it here just like the first movie. It's a terrible movie with no redeeming qualities except maybe the CGI and one or two Godzilla scenes but everything else cane be summed up with one word: Dumb.

As a family, we try to have a movie night every second week when we sit down eat popcorn and turn off the brain for a few hours. This film is so bad I almost threw the popcorn at hte screen in my own home! Story is dreadful, acting pathetic, characters wafer thin and the special effects were more in keeping with the original 1950s movies from Japan than whta is available now. Avoid this - watch paint dry instead. Would give it less than one star if possilbe

Saw this in the cinema and it's a solid 5/10 movie, there's definitely more monster action than the previous movie but as usual it's so dark you struggle to see what's happening. Not sure western studios will ever make a really great Godzilla movie. Gotta say the best character in the movie was the mother (Vera Farmiga) she absolutely nails crazy. I enjoyed it but it ain't a 10/10 movie like some of these reviews say.
