Alex Proyas (the director of the crow) said "The world of gods of Egypt never really existed, it's inspired by Egyptian mythology, but it makes no attempt at historical accuracy because that would be pointless." It's about a young happy couple (Bek and Zaya) who admire Osiris (god of the underworld) and Horus (the son of Osiris), but when Set (Osiris's jealous brother) thrusts Osiris's chest and killed him, and pulled out Horus's eyes, Bek is desperate to team up with Horus to destroy Set not only for revenge, but also to protect the citizens in all of Egypt, before Set becomes the unopposed ruler of Egypt. As a fantasy epic that takes place in Egypt involving the gods, it is challenging. As attentive as I was, I was unable to find anything preposterously silly and stupid within the structure of the film. The material is pretty much just tongue-in-cheek fun with huge action adventure thrills, intriguing set pieces, and the dialogue that is deep and ambitious without adding the campy cheesiness. I was heavily thrilled by the action with quick camera cuts and slow-motion (as well the dynamic editing and fine choreography), shocked by the passages that escalated lightening-fast, and I chuckled at some of the clever unintended dialogue. The sounds of the film have a lot of impact and effective details. All of this adds up to to something that I find so astonishing. Alex Proyas produced and directed this movie, and the craftsmanship of this enterprise has his own gifted style written all over it, because just like "The Crow", Gods of Egypt is engrossing, engaging in some elements, shocking with hard-hitting impact, entertaining with intensity, amusing in a slick manner with dialogue, and there are some amazing plot twists. Not to mention that it has strong characterizations; The characters are a lot of fun because they are all bursting with personalities, they can transform into the creatures that represents the god drawings that they were based on, they are also truly fleshed out, and the protagonists have quite a bit of heart. Bek (Brenton Thwaites) is a lively and confident thief with great support, some quick reflexes, and relies on his love interest named Zaya (Courtney Eaton). The relationship of this couple is so amusing because of how carefree and lively their chemistry is (they both rely on and love each other). Horus (Nikolaj Waldau) is the god of air and he has an ambitious purpose to set his heroic goal. He also has some impressive skills; Just like Bek, he also has quick reflexes, but he can fight very well even if he is blind or deaf. Ra (Geoffrey Rush) is the god of the sun. Set (Gerard Butler) is an evil murderous brute with dark ambition to conquer Egypt, as he violently massacres all of the gods with no mercy and he has a massive army. Urshu (Rufus Sewell) is Set's vicious architect, he has a sarcastic laugh (showing that he has no sense of humor). Hathor (Elodie Yung) is the goddess of love. She is one magical and complex character. The acting from the cast is not poorly directed at all, as it contributes the theatrical entertainment. The cast may not be Egyptian, this is pure fantasy about Greek mythology that is made up and the skin color reflects the skin color of the Egyptians; some are light tan and some are dark brown, so the movie has a dim golden color palette. The score is a bold and thunderous score that elevates the action, but the score can also sound tender and emotional when things calmed down. The visual effects and CGI effects alongside the production design are very remarkable and I was convinced by the effects. In conclusion: It was a mind-blowing surprise for me; I find the entertainment value of this epic tongue-in-cheek diversion enjoyable, ambitious, and thrilling.

Overall a good movie and I liked the graphics. And just to say,. the posts about it being "white washed" and statements that they were black, not white....you really are showing yourself to be a closed mind short bus champ. you are right that they were not white...and you are wrong because they are not black either. Middle eastern is the closest you can say. There has been years of debate on the race of the ancient Egyptian people. They did find that 8 percent of the dna could be considered "black". Of course...then there is the question...why do you always have to turn every damn thing into a race issue...shut up and just watch the damn movie instead of being the race-baiting hate mongering d-bag!
