About this movie

Winner of five Academy Awards, Gladiator revived the sword and sandal epic while becoming one of the acclaimed and popular historical dramas of the decade! Russell Crowe won an Oscar for his star-making turn as a general whose family is murdered by a corrupt prince (Academy Award nominee Joaquin Phoenix). He embarks on a desperate quest for revenge that sees him fighting in front of thousands of Romans in the Coliseum. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ridley Scott, Gladiator recreates the glory of Ancient Rome with Academy-Award-winning special effects. A modern classic.

This has everything. It is superb. I was transfixed by the opening battle sequence , gasping at the wickedness of the baddies, staring with eyes wide open at the blend if visuals and suspense of it all, and penultimately punching the air as wrongs were righted, only to shed a tear or two at the end. Hopefully I haven't given too much away.

Some componants of the film like the opening battle is very spectacular dispite having the Germanic tribe knowing a Zulu war chant (must have seen the film prior to taking on the Romans). All in all this a great film with just a few rediculous moments ie free style stuffed Tiger wrestling. But well worth a viewing none the less

This film is flawless, I cant fault it one bit. The acting, dialog and music could not have been done any better. There is just the right amount of blood, brutality and violence. This film is 171 minutes of pure genius and perfection.
