Look, it's pretty dreadful and all it really does is highlight what a real achievement the original was, that got over the line with only 1/10th of the visual effects. Like many reboots all this one manages to do is be defeated by the movie it was trying to copy. Crass, sexist, derivative, formulaic, predictable and completely lacking any substance, there will be no sequel... By the end, the movie just embarrassingly scuttles away into obscurity, having completely imploded in on itself with a series of plot choices most likely hastily scrawled on the back of a paper napkin at some "creative brainstorming" session where everyone was completely convinced of their own creativity.... Rent the original. If you were foolish enough to buy this movie on DVD, you would be using the disc as a drinks coaster by now.

Being a huge Ghostbusters fan, I was horrified that they were doing a reboot. My expectations were really low coming into this movie, but it's surprisingly good. The humour is generally good but there a few cringe worthy moments. Jokes about Chinese soup is the prime example. The characters are likeable but Kevin (Chris Hemsworth ) is annoyingly stupid. Usually, I like Chris. I thought the cameos in the movie were going to be awful but I was surprised yet again. For once in a movie women don't need saving. I know that sounds "politically correct" but it's the way I see things. Hollywood has trouble with the concept of female leads in a heroic and comedic roles. Though Rogue One has offset this trend to a small degree. It's my least favourite Ghostbusters movie, but it's a much watch for Ghostbusters fans.

So just watched the 2016 Ghostbusters. 3.7/5 (or 7.5/10) it's not crappy. It's a good Ghostbusters story. Some of the acting is weak. Some of the actors don't fit, they don't add to the chemistry (I am looking at the 2 brunettes most of all). The Action is fun. The tools of the trade are a nice touch. The cameos are well placed. Most of the sets are good but here and there they lack "passion" but in some ways they feel more like the first 2 Ghostbusters movies than other scenes. I like it and I will watch the next instalment. $6 to rent off Google Play - worth Ketobbey Waters's review
