Ghost Stories

(There is a small spoiler in this review - read with care - I've labelled it though) The movie is interesting MOST of the way through but then ending feels like lazy writing to me. Let me put it this way: if my kids wrote a story for school and ended it like "Ghost Stories" did, they would have been given an F regardless of how good the rest was. Feels like the producers ran out of cash and just decided to wrap it up quickly and cheaply. You get to the end and think "Wow! that's 90 minutes of my life I'd like back!" which is a shame because it's pretty interesting up until then. (Spoiler here) Maybe turn it off when Goodman goes back to the caravan and leave the rest to your own imagination.

We really enjoyed this. Contrary to other reviews we felt the ending was effective and integral to the story rather than tacked on. The revelation is chilling and like all good twists makes you reassess everything you've just watched. The tension was brilliant and cast and acting top notch. Will eventually watch again to pick up the clues we missed first time round.

I saw this as the stage production recently, this film is the adaptation. It's very cleverly written and a must watch. If you have seen or want to see the stage version, then please do; I would highly recommend it. The film differs slightly from the stage version, but that is understandable. In summary, this film is fantastic! It's spooky, it makes you uneasy, it builds tension, but most importantly, it's a very good watch!
