I feel we're still divided in this country. Hard to imagine how one day your best of friends and the next your fighting against each other. As all Wars it's about money and power and we let the little people fight it out, same as today. I guess we haven't really evolved much. I say this for all people around the world. It seems the movie does a pretty good job showing this major fight in our history. The men on both sides fought bravely. In my opinion one had a greater cause to fight for the future of how our nation is structured. The few Republicans in the party showed great heart with the voting, I wish today's Republican party wouldn't buy into the far right so much. Our Gov. is so bought and the media divides us so well that it seems it would be difficult for us to come together and take our country back from those that enslave us all currently. As I comment, we recently removed the confederate flag from some Gov.(maybe state) office etc. I think thats the right move in the direction as it's important what has divided us before doesn't divide us now. Fly the confederate flag at home and be proud of those that fought in our nation's war. Enjoy the movie!

Great flick for anybody who wants to visualize the Battle of Gettysburg. If you've visited Gettysburg, this movie will fill in all the holes in your understanding of what the battle looked like, where the action took place on each day, and what was the strategic thinking that led to choices made by General Robert E. Lee. It seems to me that Lee disregarded sound advice from General Peter Longstreet. If Lee had listened to Longstreet, who knows what might have happened. The South might have won the war, and Lord only knows what kind of nation we would be living in today. One shudders to think: but for Lee's prideful thinking, what we today call America might have been broken up into two or more (considering the West might have become its own country later) nations. But all of that is mere speculation. In the movie, you can watch actual history unfold -- probably the most important battle in the history of the United States.

The civil war Battle I did go to Gettysburg and saw where this great battle took place I loved the part with the 20 the Maine with Joshua Laurence Chamberlain he led the charge one part they did not show when George Custer. Led the cavalry against jeb Stewart and that. Is one reason the north won at Pickett's charge
