Films like this don't come along very often, but men like Mohandes K. Gandhi don't come along very often either. But he would say himself that anyone could do what he did, and this film shows that nonviolence is a practical tool of dissent, even in the face of the most cowardly brutality. If you imagine nonviolence to be good "in theory" or hopelessly idealistic you need to see this film. A masterful biopic by the late Richard Attenborough that stands as a classic of the highest order.

A total crashing bore but very worthy. Hardly a fun film but suppose it pleases the liberals who financed it. A good film to see if you sutffer from insomnia

In view of the current hyper nationalism siezing the west I find his example as portrayed here more relevant than ever.
