Got what I came for. I was reminded of movies from my childhood like Class of the Titans (1981) and Conan with Arnold in that they were larger than life and really went for the epic feel. These days however visuals that depend too heavily on CGI tend to leave us disappointed and this is part of how I felt with this movie. Not because they were not decent, is some cases really impressive however not where it counted which is during the action scenes there was never a sense of true peril for the protagonist and so despite the characters feeling fairly complete and the 'style' of the film being lighter than it could have been, it just did not feel like there was any real tension to create a tempo and make me care about how it would turn out. In the end I feel this is down to the direction and editing and it could have been tweaked to be much better even with the same material. In essence, very much like an open world computer game that gives you quests and no real urgency to do any of them right now just as long as you get them done... eventually, no pressure.. just cruise though the story until you get to the end.

For people complaining about whitewashing, this is clearly fantasy, set in a fantasy version of Ancient Egypt, on a flat Earth, where the Sun God hovers in the skies above, on a giant spaceship, battling a gigantic inter-dimensional Chaos Worm every night. It's just mindless fun, if you go with the flow, and stop nitpicking so much.

Great movie, i really enjoyed the story.. little on the simplistic side, but i enjoy it. For such a high budget film i did expect a little more, but at the same time i was content with everything. Also it was visually beautiful.. Totally worth the $6 rental! I do suggest giving it a go.
