My personal history with Ghostbusters goes back many, many years to my childhood.. so much so, that the first one was release the year before I was born. For all intensive purposes, I and II were movies that I grew up with. With that said: Ghostbusters Afterlife is EPIC! Right from the start, it just feels like a true Ghostbusters original. It feels comfortably familiar, but at the same time it feels new and unknown. The special effects are well worthy of a 2021 movie release, but again, they "feel" like the original all over again. And the re-introduction to the Marshmallow Man, just too cute for words... oh god, and both the Gatekeeper and Keymaster are even more believable now. The story itself in this one is so well written, every important character gets a good enough introduction to be both memorable and relatable for the rest of the movie (which is more easily said than done). But what I found most impressive, was the way it tied in to the original movies.. The "family link" idea may be rather cliche, especially in movies this long after the originals, but this one delivers so many different emotions through that story, it's unique and it stands out well. If you got any enjoyment at all from either of the first two movies, you need to watch this!! I myself cannot wait to watch it again. Next time I'm buying, not renting. Go watch it... now. (:
