Don't expect saving private Ryan. Although mostly just the USA ripping through legions of Germans and the usual 'war is hell' theme, I thought it was a decent portrayal of the ww2 genre. Much more realistic effects and ballistics. Worth the wait.... For Blu-ray.

It doesn't. Even Saving Private Ryan was more accurate than this. The only thing to appreciate here are the tanks borrowed from the Bovington tank museum. The only minimally credible bit is the duel between the trio of Shermans and the Tiger tank. It beggars belief that a film supposedly historically accurate - yet fictional - falls into tropes like having the "baddies" line up to get slaughtered by the manly "goodies". Yes, there's an attempt to nuance a bit the "goodies", but really, it felt a bit like the screenplay writer was slapping us in the face with a warm lettuce. I would sincerely appreciate much more a 'biopic' inspired on actual Audie Murphy, which was a character infinitely more interesting than this "Wardaddy" played by Brad Pitt.

The Plot was missing something and despite how graphic it was the acting lacked that gritty level of depth that the thin red line and saving private ryan portrayed. And I would have cast someone else as wardaddy as Brad Pitt made the movie look a bit like inglorious basterds 2
