About this movie

"It rips through the skies at six times the speed of sound, is invisible to radar and spits death -- launching and guiding missiles directly through the pilot's impulses. It's the MIG-31, the most devastating war machine ever built, code name Firefox. But Firefox belongs to the Russians. To maintain the balance of world power, the West must steal it. Clint Eastwood directs and stars as ace U.S. pilot Mitchell Gant, the man for the job. Firefox delivers a unique payload of nail-biting suspense and effects pyrotechnics. Special Visual Effects Producer John Dykstra won an Oscar for Star Wars* -- and his work on Firefox is in that out-of-the-world class. Join Eastwood in the cockpit and soar!"

Most of it is a typical cold war post Vietnam movie, but the part were he walks thru the hanger into the jet is Eastwood at his best!

This was one of my personal favorite Eastwood films when I was a kid. The visual effects may look dated today but it is still entertaining. Unlike some of Eastwood's film's from this era this one does not contain a ton of action. It might move a bit slower then some would like. The drama is around getting into Moscow during the communist cold war era undetected to steal the Russian's secret Mach 6 jet fighter Firefox. There is a lot of tension around these events but it takes a while to get to the film's payoff ending sequences. Once there we get a jet fighter combat sequence that is akin to the 80's classic Top Gun but not quite as entertaining. Overall this is a good movie that deviates a bit from some of Eastwood's other films making it worth a viewing or two.

it's a 3.2 for me. the (flyer fight) last air—battle scene 😵 tainted this film for me. Did they realise they had Clint… filming this, they didn't emphasise HIS rough-&-tumble!😕 did any of you Flight Specialist notice that aircraft FLIP in the last 😵 ??
