For those complaining about this being a sub and not a dub SHAME ON YOU!! Firstly, if you read everything before making the purchase you would have seen that, that aside, the movie itself is great. It takes place after the events of the highly overrated JAPANESE Role-Playing Game, Final Fantasy VII. I would like to point out, you could get away without playing the hundred hour epic. The movie glosses over everything that went on enough to for someone with average intelligence to understand what is going on in the movie. However, to get the full effect, and to truly not feel lost about who all the side characters (Cloud's party), you should probably play the game. While I believe the English dub job is good, I found Steve Burton's portrayal of Cloud to be accurate to the super whiney character in game, some of the other voices just didn't seem to fit. I wasn't much of a fan of Tifa's voice actress, Aerith's, Denzel's, Marlene's, and Kadja's voice were the biggest beefs I had with the English Dub. The animation of the movie is on point, even almost ten years later. The main reason you're watching this movie isn't for the throw away plot. Truthfully, you're watching this movie for the epic sword fight at the end where Cloud and Sephiroth are flying through Midgar throwing buildings at each other.

I cannot keep up with japanese the well to understand what they are saying, I get tired of pausing the movie to read the subtitles so to me it is a bad buy and I wish I could get my money back. I did not see where it said subtitled only so forget this. I'm honestly to the point where I give up on anime in its entirety. A lot of the bilingual titles are no longer in print and the stuff that is is complete trash like Attack on Titan.

So I've watched this movie in dub before and I know it is a great movie. However I'm someone who isn't able to watch a show and read subtitles. So for the weebs saying you can't enjoy anime unless it's subbed STFU. Anyway my only gripe isn't with the movie at all. It's with the fact that google shows you an English preview but when you purchase it it's in Japanese. Kinda pisses me off. I bought it 2 different ways and instantly contacted google to get my $20 refunded to get the English version.
