About this movie

From the imagination of Wizarding World creator J.K. Rowling comes the Fantastic Beasts film series, magical adventures set before the time of Harry Potter. At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

Lackluster, a bit empty, and extremely contrived. At the end of it, I was rolling my eyes at how ridiculous the surprise twists were. Plus I didn't really care about Grindelwald's character or his friendship with Dumbledore. I didn't believe they were friends or dating or whatever was being suggested by their friendship. In the end, it just felt like a boring knock-off/re-hash of the muggle vs wizards stuff from the original Harry Potter series.

Not as good as FB1 and definitely one of the weakest films in the Harry Potter Universe. Its not the worst movie ever but only worth renting. It felt like it it should have been a TV series rather than an actual film just to separate all the storylines. It's not surprising non fans who aren't invested in Rowling's Universe would really hate it, it was a jumbled incomplete mess. Hopefully, they also explain or fix some of the potholes that dont make sense in the future films.

Compared to the first FB movie, this one wasn't very good at all. The story line was somewhat complicated in spots and could be hard to follow. Really boring actually. I've always been a huge fan of Harry Potter and I liked the first FB but I wouldn't really recommend this movie unless you could watch it for free. Not worth spending money on. I feel like they could have thought this one through a lot better. Especially being they first introduced Grindelwald at the end of the last movie so I was thinking there would be a lot of epic battles and magic throughout this one but I was sorely mistaken. Very disappointing overall.
