About this movie

From the imagination of Wizarding World creator J.K. Rowling comes the Fantastic Beasts film series, magical adventures set before the time of Harry Potter. At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

This is a building film. The reason it is low is that with Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts 1 the individual films built on the world, but had a stand alone story that felt complete at the end of the film. This one doesn't. It was an interesting story never-the-less and after the next film has been released, perhaps it will be more appreciated. Star content good, effects brilliant. I will reassess at a later date

Didn't get to the cinema to watch this but got it on here as love the first one. Watching though I found it lacked... something? Can't put my finger on what but... Audio was weird found had to keep upping volume often as Newt & others seemed to be mumbling & so quiet when talking, visually it looked amazing I loved the Zouwu - that Chinese dragon creature but plot wise, it just feels like a filler before the next film. Hopefully questions and plots will get explained in the next.

It seems as though JK Rowling's prequels to much loved Harry Potter films are starting to suffer from "Star Wars Prequel Syndrome", not only is CGI overused so much, but the romance between Queenie and Jacob can't help but be as cringeworthy as Anakin and Padme, to top it off, Jude Law is great as Dumbledore, but disappointing how they"ve butchered his character from a badass in the Potter movies to just a sidenote in Newt's forced, disjointed adventures. Nothing to do with "Fantastic Beasts".
