This is why I wait for the rental price. I like Yeoh but this movie was bad. I watched most of this with disdain and I can only assume that bots are responsible for so many good reviews. It goes through a tremendous effort to normalize homosexuality. The multiverse theme borders on insanity but, ultimately, it succeeds in illustrating the absurdity required to justify depravity. I still give it two stars for Yeoh's martial arts and Short-Round's resurrection from obscurity.

I wanted to like it more than I did. Maybe if they cut out thirty minutes and tightened it up, it would be a 4-5 stars but it got pretty repetitive after a while, to the point of ruining it for me. I like long films but the story still has to move. Having said that, definitely watch it and judge for yourself. It's one of the best movies of the year (but I hope there's better).
