We all know that the transition from book to movie makes a lot of plot disappear. Usually, that plot isn't 100% essential. However, with this rendition of the book, it skips so much plot and characters that there was no potential for the sequel to be made. It completely skips the introduction of essential characters for the second movie, as well as the whole reason Eragon makes the journey that takes up half of the second book. Not comparing it to the movie, it is passable. Enjoyable animation sequences, with cheesy dragon interactions. Still, if you find yourself with some spare time, watch the movie. Then read the book, you'd be doing yourself a favour.

All copies of this movie should be burnt and erased from all memory. The book is soooo much better. This book series deserves 5 stars. It could have been filmed and scripted to the quality of Game Of Thrones and Lord Of The Rings/Hobbit mashed up. Jeremy Irons was the best actor choice and the dragon animation was good but this story deserved better.

If you have read the books then it is a butchered mess of a movie that could have been spectacular. If you have not read the books, I recommend watching something else, bad acting, awkward cgi and lack of compelling story make it a difficult watch. Read the books, my favorite series of books by far
