It's only boring for those who don't understand. I suggest reading about it and re-watching. When you get your head around it, it's clever and interesting. It is well written and can be interpreted in many ways.

Firstly the film encouraged me to read the book which has informed this final review. My impression was that the film used 'almost' the same storyboard as it were but to tell a different story. This makes the film interesting from two points; analysing what the film means and comparing with the book, how successful the film interpretation was, placed as it was over the book's framework. Finally the criticism of the sandy look of the film I think missed the point that this was not normal life.

If you don't get the film when you watch it, it makes no sense and is rubbish, but if you understand it it's really cleverly done and a brilliant film. I disliked it, but after reading about it, I kind of get it now and would watch it again to give it a second chance. Although I didn't enjoy it when I watched it, I can see how it's a bit of a masterpiece and can't bring myself to rate it anything other than the 5 stars it deserves.
