While I think the actors/actress's all played their parts well, the annoyance of the Daphne & Frank just couldn't be over looked for me. These people are in 30s & are somewhat surprised when they lose Jack in their lives. Like, you're both idiots & you need to grow up. Also, the first hookup scene between Daphne and Frank, where she remembers something from her past, I've had friends who've gone through that & they wouldn't continue to hookup with basically a random guy they met at a party.

I'm a sucker for improv films - the pacing is so different from scripted work. It's always just on the edge of being hyper-realistic: people are both visibly their worst and best selves. It's always beautiful and profoundly human while being desperately uncomfortable. Most films try to sanitize the parts of people that are the messiest, despite the doors working through the messiness leads us through. Not improv films, and not Endings Beginnings. Endings Beginnings will feel recognizable to most anyone searching for something, trying to come back from something. Shailene and Sebastian's performances make your breath catch in your chest. The cinematography is dreamy enough you have to remind yourself it's not a fairy tale, it wasn't meant to be, and it won't end that way. Despite its rawness, hints at toxic masculinity, it still comes out the other side with a spoonful of hope and Shailene still in the lead - maybe even more so - surrounded by women stronger than the men in her life. A good movie for when you need to watch the world go by and wonder at what comes next.

I really enjoyed this movie. It has a lot of mixed reviews but I really enjoyed the characters, the music, the sceneries and just the deeper meaning to the movie (well, the message I got from it). But I would definitely recommend the movie if you enjoy indie films.
