Emperor

I thought it is a great movie. it brought back memories of when We were stationed in Tokyo after the war from 1947 till 1952. My Dad was an Army Colonel and briefed General MacArthur every Friday afternoon. Mom would drive us to the Dai Itchi building where MacArthur's HQS was located to pick up Dad at around five o'clock. Macarthur's daily departure was quite some show! Many of the Japanese at that time considered the General to be a god of sorts and were always present in large number to see and cheer him. It was a sad day in our family when Mac was fired by President Truman in 1951. MacArthur's farewell speech at West Point in 1961 is a classic!

I'm no longer what anyone would consider "young", but when I first visited Japan I was and watching this movie was like a time machine back to the rebuilding of Tokyo and the rest of Japan. For me, this movie was a history of early post-war Japan and the props and sets were remarkably realistic. I lived through a great deal of the reconstruction, through the early 1960s, and even though the movie's story might be a bit dry, I don't think anyone would regret renting or buying it

I will literally watch any movie that has any cast members from the hitt T.V. series LOST and I'm serious any one of the actors from LOST and you can bet ill be watching those movies for sure.... Excellent actors all around.....
