About this movie

Liz Gilbert (Julia Roberts) is a modern woman on a quest to marvel at and travel the world while rediscovering and reconnecting with her true inner self in Eat Pray Love. At a crossroads after a divorce, Gilbert takes a year-long sabbatical from her job and steps uncharacteristically out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life. In her wondrous and exotic travels, she experiences the simple pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of love in Bali. Based on an inspiring true story, Eat Pray Love proves that there really is more than one way to let yourself go and see the world. © 2010 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Only good thing about this movie is the scenery and the food. The acting was bad and the story is about a selfish, pretentious woman who had everything but still has to whine about not being satisfied and then writes a book about it. The real life character is so bad, it makes you like Julia Roberts a little less.

If you have read the book, spare yourself from the movie. It's the internal dialog and the stories of the people she meets that speak to people. The characters here are condensed versions with different attitudes and sometimes different stories. But, it does have lovely scenery--maybe that's enough.

The movie had potential but perhaps if an unknown but talented young actress had taken the lead it would have been much better . I never saw the character melt away . All I could see was Julia Roberts in my face .
