About this movie

In the future, America is a dystopian wasteland. The latest scourge is Ma-Ma, a prostitute-turned-drug pusher with a dangerous new drug and aims to take over the city. The only possibility of stopping her is an elite group of urban police called Judges, who combine the duties of judge, jury and executioner to deliver a brutal brand of swift justice. But even the top-ranking Judge, Dredd (Karl Urban), discovers that taking down Ma-Ma isn't as easy as it seems in this explosive adaptation of the hugely popular comic series.

This movie was so bad... I walked out of the living room. I sat there for about 40 minutes and my roommate was falling asleep. I woke him up around 45-48 mins and he agreed, turn this crap off. He had downloaded it too, so it wasn't my sweat off a either our backs to walk out on this garbage movie. I went to bed, it wasn't worth staying up to watch. The dialog is ridiculous, 45 mins in and title was just stupid. The movie tried to milk the 3d effects but without a 3d tv its just stupid.

Honestly, I thought I'd get a lot more bang for my buck, since I'm still riding off the high of The Raid Redemption, but alas, no. The plots are fairly similar: large living complex being run by a drug lord and a scarce few cops try to bring it down. My problem is it just feels so awkward and I shouldn't have shelled out five bucks for the HD version. I suppose my hopes were just a little too high. Special effects are solid and bloody action is around every corner. A solid two stars sounds fair for the price.

This version is hands down better than the old movie. It's a bloody movie that focuses a lot of detail to gore that may turn some away. Slow motion tends to make scenes more epic and artistic... I found myself focused and immersed during the bullet time action. I'm glad they didn't overdo using this effect. Dredd is a great movie for someone looking for a shoot em up action.
