I'm a big fan of movies that actually stay true to the book to some degree and of course, trail off the beaten path a bit but overall retain the quality seen in the novel that makes it great. Divergent did just that. I avoided seeing the film after it was released due to alot of negative feedback and I read the book a few months ago and loved it. I am now in love with this movie. It really captured what I loved about the book: the very slow build up of a connection between Tris and Four, a more direct insight into the twisted mind of Jeanine...but my favorite character in the series is Four himself. Theo James really stands out to me; not because of his good looks but because he has this kind of appeal that makes you think he's a serial killer and then out of nowhere, he shows his humanity. He's a complex and twisted character and it's beautiful to watch Theo James bring this to life. The fight scene between Tris and Four was a real win for me because the book made the fight so raw and the film stayed true to it. It was a beautiful moment. So bravo to the film! I know many people may not like it but trust me, this is definitely good!

This movie wanted to be a book to movie smash like Hunger Games and all it ended up being was a thready plot with little to hold your attention, as Hunger Games had already nailed the "society in a restricted state has made it miserable for many while a small number enjoy wealth, and from that brews a revolution complete with love story" genre. It was bad acting and casting as there was no on film chemistry nor was I able to stay awake for the 8 times I tried to watch it and just gave up.

Honestly, I speak for those who read all three books. I'm HIGHLY disappointed. This movie ruined the entire series for me. The ending was different seemed completely made up, nothing was explained well. The tension between Beatrice and Tobias is also poorly acted. Tobias was good but I don't think Beatrice acted very well. Also, they skipped a lot of good, funny scenes from the book.. I'm just disappointed.
