This is one of my all time favourite movies, even bought it on dvd. Im shocked to see such bad reviews. I loved it. Very realistic with how it would be in real life if this situation happened. Good acting & special effects, really felt for the main character and the main alien. Desperately waiting for the 2nd movie. Someone told me Elysium is sort of like District 9 #2 years after. The ending is desperately sad tho ! Definatley watch. Chappie is a great movie too.

FYI Peter Jackson is one of the producers, this comedy is directed by an unknown whom should stay that way. The screenplay doesn't know where to go and a possible epic story is delivered like a Dr Who episode. You'll go wtf, laugh and shake your head in the first few minutes and it doesn't get better. Spend your $3.99 on something else.

Didn't watch the trailer before watching this movie... no regrets. District 9 delivered. Different and surprising in many ways and far from your typical alien invasion shoot em up movie. Highly recommended.
