About this movie

From Jonás Cuarón and Alfonso Cuarón, the acclaimed filmmakers of Gravity, comes a unique, modern vision of terror. Desierto is a visceral, heart-pounding suspense-thriller packed with tension and suspense from start to finish, starring Gael García Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries and Y Tu Mamá También) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen). What begins as a hopeful journey to seek a better life becomes a harrowing and primal fight for survival when a deranged, rifle-toting vigilante chases a group of unarmed men and women through the treacherous U.S.-Mexican border. In the harsh, unforgiving desert terrain, the odds are stacked firmly against them as they continuously discover there’s nowhere to hide from the unrelenting, merciless killer. No back story, which is to be expected. But it would have been worth to dig a little deeper into the motive of Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character, or at least how it developed to the amount of obsession and passion he has towards and against illegal immigration. Great Suspense, puts you into a first person view of the hardships people will go to in order to reach the 'Land of the Free' and find that maybe - the heights taken and entering extremely life threatening situations that seem to never end - might not be worth the 'just' the chance to live and even succeed in America. Great work by the leading Protagonist and Antagonist!

Decent movie, what threw me off was the fact that the guy kept pulling the bolt back to reload on a Semi automatic rifle. Other than that not too bad. Hollywood has these screw ups quite often, I don't understand why they can't do some research and find out how the weapon actually functions.

Great movie until the ending. JDMs character would not have been crying and begging for his life, that ruined the movie for me, and I love JDM. As the other reviews go, I agree, universal studios went out of their way to paint the "redneck conservative" as a killer and the illegals as heros. Just another propaganda movie for the liberals.
