About this movie

In Deliver Us From Evil, New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana), struggling with his own personal issues, begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramírez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city. Inspired by the book, which details Sarchie’s bone-chilling real-life cases.

With director Scott Derickson at the helm, I was expecting far more than this mish-mash of horror/exorcism film and detective drama. Eric Bana gives his all while a miscast Edgar Ramirez, who was so great as the God Ares in 2013's Wrath Of The Titans, here, he acts like his priest character belongs in a wholly different movie altogether. On the plus side however, there are some genuinely unnerving scares and one hugely upsetting scene of human sacrifice that stays with you throughout the movie.

First watched this for something to watch. Glad I did. Awesome film and kept me pinned to my Tv screen. Love a good horror, especially the satanic stuff. Id recommend this
