As Hitler’s forces storm across the European landscape and close in on the United Kingdom, Winston Churchill (Oldman) is elected the new Prime Minister. With his party questioning his every move, and King George VI (Ben Mendelsohn) skeptical of his new political leader, it is up to Churchill to lead his nation and protect them from the most dangerous threat ever seen. Also starring Academy Award® nominee Kristin Scott Thomas and Lily James, DARKEST HOUR is a powerful, inspirational drama.

I watched to film and I loved it ok maybe it was not 100% accurate, for example he went down to a tube to get inspired, "Doubt this Happened". What was real though is what matters, the reality Hitler was evil, the reality was some people Chamberlain wanted to keep Britain from the war. Reality he did united the country and even today is remembered by his speeches. War is terrible but I hate to imagine what would of happened in Europe if Hitler did not have to fight two fronts.

4 and a half for now. Even though it may not be 100% accurate, Gary Oldman still makes the film as Winston Churchill. I did notice in the boats going to Dunkirk scence what looked like unfinished computer work, and also these kids running in the street that looked like Hitler, but the faces looked very odd, like Winston Churchill was imagining something, but with strangeness added. The kids looked like they were close to running to the car he was in, or they were or something.

Now we know why Gary Oldman will (should) get the Academy Award for best actor. His was a tour de force in bringing to life a dark and depressing, yet glorious chapter in the life of a man who happened to be at the right place at the right time to carry the will of a nation and the hopes of its allies. (Oh, by the way: When Churchill visits the French military, the reaction of one French general is to say: "Ces Anglais!" (at least, that's what I heard). For some reason, this was translated in subtitle by "He is English" (Il est Anglais), when the correct translation should have been "These English!").
