About this movie

Director Tim Burton brings the cult classic series "Dark Shadows" to the big screen in a film featuring an all-star cast, led by Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and Helena Bonham Carter. In the year 1750, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from England to start a new life in America, where they build a fishing empire in the coastal Maine town that comes to carry their name: Collinsport. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet...until he makes the grave mistake of falling in love with a beauty named Josette DuPres (Bella Heathcote) and breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death—turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive. Nearly two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972, a stranger in an even stranger time. MPAA Rating: PG-13 © 2012 Warner Bros. I will first state no this movie does not really deserve 3 stars as the movies ending is very poor and the jokes start off good but start to tire you but by far the best thing about this movie despite a cheesy script is that the acting is fairly good especially from Eva Green who seems to keep picking bad or average movies like this then giving amazing performances Johnny depp also gives a strong performance considered the script he's working with overall this movie is another one of Tim Burtons beautiful looking movies that doesn't deliver in the right places

I was forced to watch this the other night and I was surprised how enjoyable it was. Only problem is it doesn't know whether to take itself seriously or not and sometimes the movie is quite dark for younger viewers but then ok for them with more funny scenes. I would prefer a straight gothic horror but with Depp you're always gonna get camp acting.
