Ok, so I'm buying this movie simply for the giggles. Being true to the story? Eh, this falls much more into the "fantasical realm" of things. Dante of the books was not a knight, of the crusades or a man of armor at all. That said, I can see the likeness to the video game and if that's what they were going for then it's not bad I guess. I haven't seen the game played or played it myself in a long time. Neither have I seen the game played all the way through. If you're looking for something close to the book or because you forgot to read the book and need some info for class, for the sake of your grade don't watch this movie for your "cliff notes". That said, like I mentioned in the beginning, I watch this movie for the laughs. I mean, the first few minutes involves Dante (I think) doing a barrel roll while on a horse mid air....

Personally, I prefer Sean Meredith's 2007 adaptation a little bit more, and would easily recommend THAT version over this, especially to those unfamiliar with the story. However, after (FINALLY) seeing this, (and reading the comics based on it, ableit back when Sony sold digital comics for their PSP,) I can easily see why this "'God of War' clone" was so successful.

The concept was incredible, obviously. The story is a fantastic one. However, it was hard for me to really get into it with the animation style changing as much as it did. It made things a little confusing. Also, the movie felt rushed. They should have split it in two parts... the battles were so short and it seemed like after a blink, he had already finished half the journey. Other than that, it was great.
