About this movie

An alien attack threatening cataclysmic worldwide devastation brings together the world's greatest superheroes for the first time in Justice League: War. When the powerful Darkseid and his massive, relentless forces invade Earth, a group of previously unaligned super heroes -- misunderstood and, in some cases, hunted by the authorities -- discover that the only way to fend off the attack is to work together as a cohesive unit. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Shazam and, in his origin story, Cyborg, combine their respective talents in an all-out battle to save the planet. Thus is born the Justice League.

As much as I generally enjoy the Animated DC movies, I don't feel like much effort was put into this one. There were too many cheap one liners, cliches, and bad animation sequences. I give animated super hero movies some leeway, in regards to allowing these things, but you would be better off watching The Flashpoint Paradox, the Dark Knight Returns, Justice League: Doom, or Batman Under The Red Hood. It is my hope that the next animated DCU movie is better than this one.

This is the Justice League movie we should've gotten (I wrote this before HBO Max). Batman & GL have a great dynamic & bounce really well off each other. They find a compelling way for Batman to participate in defeating Darkseid because he can't go toe to toe with Parademons. I love the heroes' updated look; especially Wonder Woman. Unfortunately, the voice actors seem half asleep in this movie. They don't quite reach the highs of Flashpoint, but great movie nonetheless.

Generally, DC animation is vastly superior to Marvel animation. While this is better than anything Marvel has done animation-wise (mind you, I'm a Marvel fan), it's one of the weaker cartoons from DC. But you have to at least rent this of only to watch the hilarious first meeting of Batman and Green Lantern in the sewer. It's worth watching just for that. These guys should have been in charge of Batman v Superman.
