About this movie

Looking for work, Aaron (Patrick Brice) comes across a cryptic online ad: “$1,000 for the day. Filming service. Discretion is appreciated.” Low on cash and full of naiveté, he decides to go for it. He drives to a cabin in a remote mountain town where he meets Josef (Mark Duplass), his cinematic subject for the day. Josef is sincere and the project seems heartfelt, so Aaron begins to film. But as the day goes on, it becomes clear that Josef is not who he says, and his intentions are not at all pure. The directorial debut of Patrick Brice and produced by Jason Blum (PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, INSIDIOUS) and Mark Duplass (SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED), CREEP’s intense interplay between its two protagonists upends expectations at every turn.

What a lot of people missed when watching this movie is that it pokes funny itself. It is a self aware horror movie. But that does not make it a comedy. The movie is very unnerving and will have you locking all doors at night. The only thing that bugged me, but not enough for a low rating was that the movie was written in such a way that if you missed one line of dialog whole plot points could be missed. Like the fact that the protagonist doesn't drive away, its spoken about once, then never again.

This movie gives you an uncomfortable, disturbing and unsettling feeling throughout it's run time. Dialogue is important and throws around a mix of emotions. It makes you second guess that friend who seems lonely and what lies behind their words. I'm not a fan of handheld films, but it suits this style. I enjoyed it. It was fairly entertaining.

Pretty good horror movie. I felt like the first half was OK, it was pretty creepy but also sort of annoying in the way they handled the whole found footage thing. I think the second half of the movie is definitely the best part of that movie. I was on the edge of my seat and found it really unsettling. The main character may act a bit stupid at times, but overall I felt it was a decent watch.
