About this movie

One of the most iconic science fiction movies of all-time, Creature From the Black Lagoon is a groundbreaking classic showcasing Hollywood magic at its best. When scientists exploring the Amazon River stumble upon a 'missing link' connecting humans and fish, they plan to capture it for later study. The creature has plans of his own, however, inspired by the lead scientist's (Richard Carlson) beautiful fiancée (Julie Adams). Well-acted and directed, and with Bud Westmore's brilliantly designed monster, Creature From the Black Lagoon remains a masterpiece not only of the genre, but of all time.

Kind of a slow leisurely (and sort of boring) movie for the first 40 minutes but then it turns into an all out monster revenge flick. I agree that the monster's music gets a bit old after a while and it's bewildering to me to think that this lumbering monster could sneak up on anyone as many times as it does (especially because it seems to be roaring before attacking close to the end). Anyhow, the costume and underwater filming is amazing for the time. 👍

My favorite Universal Monster movie. The original "Creature Feature" A thrilling riverboat adventure with the coolest Creature suit ever! Tons of action, several jailbreak attempts at capturing the Creature and the uber gorgeous Julia Adams as eye candy, the Creature's ultimate desire. Camera work, locations, sets, costumes; this production is beautiful. The one and only flaw is the music. The Creatures theme is annoying af! Nevertheless, this film is a timeless classic imo & highly recommended👍

My favorite black and white film. Though it may not be that scary to modern audiences, Creature from the Black Lagoon is still a work of pure genius from a simpler time when B movies were king and drive-in movies were the preferred method for experiencing works of art such as this. The Gillman costume still holds up and the suspense is wonderfully paced, making for a timeless masterpiece that cannot be missed.
