Hard for me to say what I think of this movie. On the one hand, it has an original and interesting premise, and I think Anne Hathaway's character is well acted and reasonably interesting. On the other hand, all three of the main male characters are despicable: the ex-boyfriend is a manipulative jerk, her boss is even worse, and the possible love interest is a spineless wimp. I will say that after a rather middling middle act, the conclusion of the movie surprised me and was a very satisfying end. I think overall it was okay, but I'm not going to rate more than about 2.5 stars out of 5.

I was rather disappointed. Kind of WGTOW / MGTOW (Women / Men going their own way). I would of preferred a uniting rather than separating conclusion. I feel this had a lot of potential. That being said you can reverse the genders and the film still holds ( / makes sense), but it's rather grim and depressing. I rate it 3 out of 5, but I feel that everyone should watch it. I rented it expecting a comedy. I feel making the main character a woman was gender stereotyping. It would of been rather modern to reverse the genders, but I guess stereotypes are still strong in the US of A. The acting was really good. Considering the way the story flipped midway you have to give the actors some credit. Anne Hathaway did a really good job with the character she was given. She really is the best part of this movie. This movie could of been a 6 out of 5. But the script had an agenda, the writers had an agenda and the producers had an agenda. And rather than making something timeless they went with the stereotypical narrative to push the popular current narrative everyone and their parents are spewing at the moment. Still worth the watch. I'm not buying it, but you should watch it once at least.

I really enjoyed this movie! I feel Jason Sudeikis has been typecast in his roles and this was an unexpected and welcome departure! I enjoyed seeing Anne Hathaway in this role - becoming empowered after relying on people and booze.... I thought the parallels crafted between the two male leads was so well done! Interesting story line and acting was stellar!
