I did not know what to expect but the storyline kept me guessing and was far from predictable. A good portrayal of how I imagined Stalin's Russia might be - stifling and corrupt. Tom Hardy has succeeded in drawing me into believing his character. The ending scenes were weaker than the rest but watchable all the same.

Sounds like a cliché. However in this case its true. If you can't do a Russian accent don't try. Also don't change the fundamentals of the story. The chase scene could have been a wonderful bit of cinema but they change the season and it becomes so lame its not real.

The ending is different to the book. I'm not sure why they changed it because it loses the soul of the story. The movie conveys the fear and paranoia of the stalin state really well but not the mind and motive of the killer (connected to the ending) but all told a lazy adaptation.
