I love Michelle Pfeiffer in anything she does, I hunted this movie down when I heard she did a period film. I feel that they should have casted Robert Pattinson as the male lead. Was about the same time "Bel Ami" came up, a good way to show his talent post "Twilight" and be in the same cougar genre. I really liked the ending, no one wins, very Asian-storytelling sentiment.

Rupert Friend was a terrible actor to play this part. I find his only mood in any role is miserable, even when he's trying to portray happy. The rest of the cast was wonderful. I wish they spent more time on the story.
