About this movie

Following its successful world premiere in Sundance’ New Frontier program, CHARLIE VICTOR ROMEO was quick to get on the radar of forward-thinking, risk-taking programmers of high profile festivals in the US and in Europe. The film recently had its East Coast premiere in the New York Film Festival’s Convergence program and the Hamptons International Film Festival and its West Coast premiere at the AFI FIlmfest in LA. Copenhagen’s CPH:DOX has the international premiere. New York’s Film Forum invited the film for a theatrical run in January 29, 2014, with further US dates to be announced. Based on a successful New York play, CHARLIE VICTOR ROMEO charts the fatal descent of six real airline crashes. With dialogs based on the actual black box recordings, the film shows pilots and airline attendants in the cockpit fighting for their passengers’ lives and trying to battle their imminent panic. Shot on 3D, CHARLIE VICTOR ROMEO proves that stereoscopic lensing is not reserved for epic studio productions only. Shari Frilot, senior programmer Sundance Film Festival, New Frontier: “The chilling and groundbreaking production stretches the boundaries of film, theatre, and the traditional documentary with this stereoscopic 3-D film. Charlie Victor Romeo delivers the intensity and gut-wrenching emotion of these emergencies via the unique approach of live performance.

Totally amazing recreations of what happened in the cockpit, drawn from the real black box recordings. It's informative, certainly edge-of-seat hair raising, but with the last flight, what struck me -- as the plane went down, as they managed to save so many-- was the huge capacity for human cooperation, the working closely together for the good of the many. This is the meaning of awe. The basis of hope. Watch.
