About this movie

The tale of a small group of flyers in the Mediterranean in 1944. There are winners and losers, opportunists and survivors. Separately and together, they are nervous, frightened, often profane and sometimes pathetic. Almost all are a little crazy. Catch-22 is an anti-war satire of epic proportions.

Do not watch this movie if you care about your happiness. The famous phrase Catch-22 is explained in the very first scene, and it is OK up to there, and draws you in to thinking it is an OK film. After that it quickly becomes psycho--weird highly-offensive. There were about a dozen times I wanted to turn it off, but thought "I want to know how it ends" so kept going, and highly regret this. If a director offends you, he will do so again, and worse than before, and If you want to know how it ends, skip to the end. Every single character is weird, and it plants in your memory sick scenes - a happy person is cut in half, a prostitute murdered for fun, 3-4 scenes repeat exactly the same for some unclear reason, a blood and guts scene that will make you want to vomit, distorting a father mother and brother visiting their dying son/brother. I never laughed once. Wikipedia calls it a "dark comedy. It was made in 1970 when movies were weird. It is a weird psycho movie.. I have been a WWII historian for 10 years, own two WWII C-47s, have flown cross-country in a B-25, crawling all over it, and spent a year in a hangar with one, yet hated this movie, but hated this..
