About this movie

Armando Alvarez (Will Ferrell) has lived and worked on his father's ranch in Mexico his entire life. As the ranch faces financial strains, Armando's younger brother Raul (Diego Luna) shows up with his new fiancee, Sonia (Genesis Rodriguez) and pledges to settle all his father's debts. It seems that Raul's success as an international businessman means the ranch's troubles are over, but when Armando falls for Sonia, and Raul's business dealings turn out to be less than legit, the Alvarez family finds themselves in a full-out war with Mexico's most feared drug lord, the mighty Onza (Gael Garcia Bernal).

I like Will Ferrell and I know Spanish. I get the satire. It just wasn't that funny. I laughed a couple times at how dumb some things were (like the sets, the fake horses, etc.) but when it stayed dumb it stopped being funny. Will's doing his whole awkward funny thing but the other actors don't know how to deal with it, especially with the language barrier, so it actually becomes awkward, not funny. A satire like this for over an hour is waaaaay too much. It would've been much better off as a skit.

This is garbage. The joke runs its course in the first ten minutes. We could barely make it past the thirty minute mark. Dont waste your time!

I might actually have enjoyed it if I could read the subtitles. They were small and hard to read with the background. The movie sucked but I love Will. He's just my kind of funny. Even in this bad movie. Did I mention the movie is bad.
