About this movie

Stephen King's Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) is a lonely, withdrawn high-school student who is the object of ridicule because of her drabness and because of the influence of her mother (Piper Laurie)--a religious zealot who has kept her in the dark about all things feminine. When Carrie experiences her first period in the gym shower, she is teased and humiliated. Threatened with expulsion from the upcoming prom, the girls' ringleader (Amy Irving) devises a plan: Amy's boyfriend (William Katt) will pretend to court Carrie and then Carrie will be elected Prom Queen. At the prom, Amy and her cohorts (including John Travolta) drop a rigged bucket of pig's blood on Carrie. Carrie's kinetic powers are now unleashed in one of the screen's most-celebrated depictions of merciless and unstoppable fury.

Watched this again several months ago for the first time in 30 years. I appreciated the it more, watching as an adult. Sissy Scacek was outstanding. Piper Laurie, while a bit over the top, nailed the role of Carrie's fanatical religious zealot mom because fanatics ARE over the top. One of the best film adaptations of any Stephen King film. Stands the test of time. Brian DePalma introduced so many young actors who would become major stars in film and Broadway. This is a classic. Loved the novel. Great film.

I love this movie it is like the best movie ever my faveourite acter is carrie white I really hated the people that bullied her. When mrs white stabbed carrie I nearley bawled my eyes out. When carrie took her mum in to the cubberd then she slowley drifted in to heaven. If I could I would rate it one million stars and thats why I love this movie.

The movie reminds me of how mean an cruel some people can really be. It's cool that she discovered a power in her. She could move things with her mind. I've read some about that power, it's called Teleconisis. I think is how you spell it. Well thanks, Jeff C.
