Viggo Mortensen (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) stars in Captain Fantastic, the funny and heartfelt journey of a father raising his six children off-the-grid. In the American wilderness, Ben (Mortensen) teaches his kids survival skills and home-schools them with a challenging curriculum and a healthy dose of anarchy. But when tragedy strikes and the family is forced to leave their self-created paradise, Ben begins to question the choices he has made for his family. Adventurous and immensely enjoyable, Captain Fantastic is a refreshing take on the challenges of parenthood.

Loads of heart with dramatic twists that some may find clunky, I just loved it. Resonates with my conflicting desire for the comfortable corruption of dominant culture and the idealised deprivation of bohemianism. This story demonstrates that idealism vs corruption and comfort vs deprivation exist within both lifestyles. Interesting, though Captain Fantastic would insist on an expansion of the word interesting. A heroic journey.

Genuine, unreserved and a great example of polarities. Felt conflicted but this is a healthy dose of reality. Many great sub themes. Great honest character development. Resonated with my core in that no system is without flaws and only you can uphold your own integrity rather than seek to be saved. Wow

Laughed & cried. Even shouted in outrage in some parts at my tv screen & didn't fall asleep before the end of movie like i usually do!
