The good stuff first... The characters were written really well, and continued to develop throughout the film. The raw emotion of the situation was explored tastefully and felt very real. However, I felt pacing in a few places was somewhat jagged and this detracted from the flow of the narrative. I'm sure it was a very deliberate choice from the filmmakers meant to convey the broken, lost feeling of the characters, but it just ended up feeling stilted and forced. While the 3 leads all performed well, I found that watching such well known actors in those roles detracted from the hyper realistic style of filmmaking. And finally the plot was pretty bare, with a predictable and fairly cliche ending/take-home-message. So overall, worth watching... But not a masterpiece.
