About this movie

In 1974, a misguided 19 year old named Michael Peterson decided he wanted to make a name for himself and so, with a homemade sawn-off shotgun and a head full of dreams he attempted to rob a post office. Swiftly apprehended and originally sentenced to 7 years in jail, Peterson has subsequently been behind bars for 34 years, 30 of which have been spent in solitary confinement. With an intelligent, provocative and stylized approach, Bronson (based on a true story) follows the metamorphosis of Mickey Peterson into Britain’s most violent prisoner, Charles Bronson.

What an odd movie. Tom Hardy is strangely captivating in this movie which feels more like an accounting of someone's life than a narrative story. While it's loosely based on the life of Charlie Bronson, I would have expected the director to have shaped the events of Bronson's life into something of a narrative. Maybe the non-narrative narrative, absence of a moral to the "story", and disjointed time skips are for more refined audiences? If you love the director, I'd say skip this one. If you want to watch Tom Hardy be a nut for 90 minutes, this movie is for you.

I like hard core, non-pretold actions. It just keeps interfering in the middle of watching what it was about. I would give minus 12 if I can just because of that. I don't know how these people give 5 stars at least that's what made rent it.

My wife and I are still perplexed as to what we just watched. We normally like Tom Hardy but this movie was a bizarre train wreck. I guess this is what you call a British comedy that Americans can't understand.
