I would like to start off this review by saying that this movie was very interesting. However there are 2 major complaints that I have. One is that I thought that the first half of the movie was not that good. I didn't get the intense story that I expected but luckily the second half made up for it. My second complaint is that for some reason everyone in the movie appeared to be sick. It bugged me that during the entire movie the main characters were blowing their noses and it never seemed to impact the story in any way. I would rate this movie a 8 out of 10.

It's a good story, well acted and interesting but it lacks depth. There are a lot of slow moments and the dialog stalls. There are some excellent scenes and Tom Hanks tries his best to pull this one along but it certainly could have used a bit more pep. The ending is anticlimactic. If you're a die hard Tom Hanks fan, then you'll enjoy this one. If you're looking for a thriller or a complex spy drama, then you'll probably be bored.

I grew up during this time period, my memories are of ongoing fear of nuclear annihilation, fear of looking out the window and seeing a mushroom cloud and remembering to close my eyes so I am not blinded. We were taught in school to hide under our desks and cover our heads when the sirens sounded. I found this period film interesting because of opposing but often similar perspectives. The world was afraid. We often forget that there are and have been threats to our security for decades.
