Bridge of Spies

Reading the blurb, the content sounded dry and I must admit I initially picked this up because I am a Tom Hanks/Spielberg fan. In either direction you go between these two consummate professionals, typically and consistently they just 'get it right'. Yet again, neither disappoints. This reliable consistency however, does not overshadow Mark Rylance's portrayal of the always-in-control Soviet spy Rudolf Abel. Rylance is most deserved of his Oscar win but you be your own judge.

Tom Hanks plays the methodical underdog in this cold war spy story. The deliberately slow pace of the film hides some of the twists and turns for Tom Hanks' character. Attempts to build the suspense are betrayed by the inevitable conclusion. Despite these qualifications worth a look.

Cool but not n brilliant. Meds something more. Like a pie needs tomato sauce. This needs more sex and violence with loads of tomato sauce squirting out of Every orifice (either God given or man made.) Show me the bullet holes!!
