About this movie

On May 7th, 2011, a young man named Shane Bitney Crone tragically lost the love of his life, Tom, to an accident. Because they weren't married or prepared for the unexpected, Shane lost all legal claims to Tom after he died. Tom's family banned Shane from the funeral and he was unable to say goodbye. On May 7th, 2012 Shane posted a video on YouTube, entitled "It Could Happen to You." He created it to honor his partner and show the world what can happen when two people are legally barred from having equal rights and equal protections under the law to marry. Shane's partner was named Tom Bridegroom. The video went viral, passing two million views within seven days.

Just a few days ago a friend showed me the youtube video of "It can Happen to you" and it just cought my attention and it just broke my heart on knowing that society can be really mean and I wanted to learn more about it; then I saw Bridegroom it just broke my heart to see what this wonderful love story ended in I can't imagine what Shane went through. May Tom R.I.P and hopefully one day Tom's parents realize that being gay wasn't a sin that actually it brought much joy and happiness to there son.

Shane, thank you again for sharing this part of your life with the rest of the world. Meeting you and interacting with you after the screening really drove home that this wasn't just another story about some strangers in a documentary. This is a story about about real people, true friends, and true love. It's made me appreciate the people I have in my life that much more, especially my wife, without her I'd be lost. Please let us know of any new developments, we're still praying for you. ;)

I watched this movie with my boyfriend of three years. After it ended I made him promise to never leave me. His parents said they'd never do anything like that and they love me. My parents feel the same about him. I'm thankful that things are smooth for me and my partner. I'll still fight for us to get married. Tap. Tap. Tap.
