About this movie

Filmed over 12 years with the same cast, Richard Linklater's BOYHOOD is a groundbreaking story of growing up as seen through the eyes of a child named Mason (a breakthrough performance by Ellar Coltrane), who literally grows up on screen before our eyes. Starring Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette as Mason's parents and newcomer Lorelei Linklater as his sister Samantha, BOYHOOD charts the rocky terrain of childhood like no other film has before. Snapshots of adolescence from road trips and family dinners to birthdays and graduations and all the moments in between become transcendent, set to a soundtrack spanning the years from Coldplay's Yellow to Arcade Fire's Deep Blue. BOYHOOD is both a nostalgic time capsule of the recent past and an ode to growing up and parenting. (Original Title - Boyhood)

Watched this movie without the benefit of having read up on it first! I think if I did it would have clouded my judgement being it took so long to make, but it's no fine wine. Where 'Rotten Tomatoes ' got a 98% rating from is beyond me maybe they was swayed by the time involved to make it,who knows? It was all very self indulgent and talk about boring it felt like an age to watch and that's putting it politely. Be prepared if you set of to watch this film that you will see it through to the end otherwise don't put yourself through it because at 2 hours and 45 minutes it's not for the faint hearted, because that's a lot of flannel for the most flannel hardened. Just to show I'm not all that mean it did have it's good points, like the ending.

probably the worst & most boring film I've ever seen. Theres no exciting story line and mason (the main character) has the personality of a broomstick. i love the film concept but its a shame its so boring, don't waste your money
